From the beginning...
If you’ve read enough of my posts, you might notice that the way I think is often a bit different. One of the patterns I use is based on an observation I had almost 30 years ago, that the order information is presented changes the choices people make.
When given a new piece of information, most people either ignore that information, or use it to slightly modify their opinion.
When I’m not pressed for time, I prefer to follow a third option. To go back and review all the assumptions I started with, all the information gathered including the new piece, and reason out the best choice from the start.
I can’t and don’t do this with every decision, but I try and do this with every big, important decision.
After all, the order you happen to gather information generally has nothing to do with the best decision given that information.
